For Family Law clients:
It is helpful to bring a copy of your most recent paystub, as well as your spouse's paystub, your tax return, and W2 or 1099. Copies of deeds to any property you own are also helpful. If you plan to initiate an action against your spouse, please also bring a certified marriage certificate. The filing of paternity actions requires a long form birth certificate for each child. If someone has filed a legal action against you, please bring copies of those documents. If you are seeking to modify a prior judgment or seek contempt charges if an opposing party is failing to comply with a prior order or judgment, please bring a copy of the particular order or judgment. The Attorneys recognize that you may not always have immediate access to these documents, but if they are readily available, the initial consultation will be more productive, and your rights can be protected as quickly as possible.
For Estate Administration clients:
Please bring a copy of the deceased's Last Will and Testament, if applicable, as well as several certified copies of the death certificate. Please also have available the full names and current addresses of the beneficiaries listed in the will, the deceased's spouse and children, if applicable, or parents and siblings. Please also gather whatever information may be available regarding the deceased's real estate, personal property, including bank accounts, stocks, bonds, retirement accounts and life insurance.
For Landlords:
Please bring a copy of any lease you may have, as well as any correspondence between you and your tenant. Also provide any and all information you have regarding the tenant's payment history, status of last month's rent and security deposit, if applicable. If you have correspondence from the local Board of Health, please provide. If you are seeking to evict a tenant for issues other than non-payment of rent, please be ready to provide a history of the violations giving rise to the eviction.
For Residential Real Estate clients:
If you have already signed an Offer to Purchase or Purchase and Sale Agreement, please bring a copy. If you need to have such a document drafted, please provide complete information relative to the property and the name and address of the other party. If you are the Seller, bring a copy of your current deed and current mortgage information.
For Will Preparation clients:
There is no initial consultation fee for this service. Please be sure to bring names and current addresses of your intended beneficiaries, your proposed executor, proposed guardian of your children and proposed trustee of your property, as applicable. If you currently have an existing will, please provide a copy. If you wish to make specific bequests to specific individuals, please give that some thought prior to the initial consultation. For husbands and wives requesting reciprocals wills, please discuss your intentions with one another prior to the initial conference. Often clients also benefit by the preparation of a Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxy and Declaration of Homestead at the time of Will Preparation.
